Q: How to setup a second LB series lithium battery

Installation & Wiring: Before configuring the system, the additional LB series battery should be wired into the vehicles 12 volt electrical system. The magnetic communication cable must also be connected from the battery to the CAN Bus of the Sargent Control System. Before connecting two batteries in parallel, ensure they are both fully charged, so voltages are the same on each battery. This will avoid a high current flow between the batteries when first connected. Changing the battery address: If an additional battery is added in parallel to create a dual battery system, then the communication address of the additional battery must first be changed from its default address of ‘1’ to address ‘2’, so both batteries can communicate at the same time. Before changing the battery address ensure only the battery to be changed has a communication cable attached (procedure shown for EC940 4” screen but EC970 7” screen is identical). Configuring Single or Dual batteries: Before the display can communicate with the Sargent Lithium+ battery, it must first be enabled from the ADVANCED SETUP menu. For a Single battery system select Lithium+. For a Dual battery system select Lithium+ x2. Information Displays: Once the batteries have been configured, additional screens and information will be available from the POWER menu of the Control Panel. For EC940 4" Display: for dual battery systems the information from each battery is combined into one screen. For example two 70Ah batteries will be shown as a total of 140Ah. For EC970 7" Display: for dual battery systems, pressing the battery symbol will switch the screen to show information from Battery1 or Battery2 as required.

Q: How to setup ultrasonic water sensors

Installation & Wiring: Sensors must be fitted to the top of the tank, as near the centre as possible, to avoid reflections from the tank wall and to minimise reading variations when the vehicle is parked on a slope. A side mounted overflow should be fitted, to reduce the chance of a sensor sitting underwater after filling, which may affect readings. The sensor is not suitable for tanks with sloped or irregular shaped base, as this will cause incorrect readings. Configuring the sensors: Before the display can communicate with the Sargent Ultrasonic Water Sensors they must first be enabled from the ADVANCED SETUP menu. In order for the water level to be displayed, the relevant tanks must also be enabled. If Ultrasonic Sensors have not been configured for a particular tank, then the system assumes a traditional rod or stud type sensor is fitted. First Time Calibration: When 12 volt power is applied to the sensor for the first time, it will automatically start the calibration procedure, to measure the tank depth. After calibration the sensor will start to send out regular readings of remaining water in the tank (for fresh sensors this is around every 5 seconds, for waste sensors this is around every 10 seconds). When powering a sensor for the first time, make sure it is fitted to the tank and the tank is empty to ensure correct calibration. If a sensor needs to be re-calibrated, this can be done from the Advanced Setup menu of the control panel. After calibration the 100% full level will be set at 30mm below the calibrated tank depth, as the sensor cannot measure fluid levels closer than 30mm to the sensor face. Re-Calibration (Automatic method): If a sensor needs to be re-calibrated for any reason, this can be done from the ADVANCED SETUP menu. Before starting, make sure the tank is empty to ensure correct calibration. Also ensure the calibration mode is set to AUTO. Re-Calibration (Manual method): For some tanks it may be preferable to enter a tank depth manually, rather than use the automatic calibration mode. Information Displays: Once the water sensors have been configured, data from each enabled sensor will be available from the WATER menu. Levels from ultrasonic sensors can increase in 1% steps unlike rod or stud sensors which increase in 25% steps. Screens for EC940 - 4" Display: For the EC940 display, fresh and waste water levels will be shown on two separate screens, press the '>' button to access the second screen. Screen for EC970 - 7" Display: For the EC970 display, both fresh and waste water levels will be shown on one screen.

Q: How do I configure the modular system for a Webasto Thermo Top EVO?

To interface the Webasto Thermo Top EVO heating system with the Sargent MC100 Control Unit so it can be controlled from the Sargent EC970 Control Panel, additional parts are required from Sargent: the Fan Adaptor PCB (Part: 17464) and the Fan PCB harness (Part: 89003-24). Wire the system as per the wiring diagram detailing connections between the Webasto heater and the Sargent Control Unit, noting that cable colours for harnesses provided with the standard Modular System kit (Part: K970A) may vary for OEM installations.
